American Gothic Bradford and Gullion Style!

We took the family down to Eldon for Gothic Days on Saturday the 13th. We got to see a nice parade and the kids came home with more candy then any of them could eat and this mother wouldn't be able to afford the dentist bill. We watched Grandpa drive his convertible with the RagTops and the Church had a great book sale.

Later on we went to see the train which they have been renovating. Talking to one their past train engineers their goal is to rent the train overnight and have people stay in it since they installed 4 different beds for people to stay in. It looks great so far. You will not be able to take a train ride but it's well worth a stop not only can you look at it but you can walk through it.

Our final stop was the American Gothic Museum. Not only can you see the house that inspired American Gothic painted by Grant Wood you can even strike a pose in front of the house and dress up like the models in the painting. Look closely at the painting can you find more than one pitch fork?

Where I'm From!

WHERE I COME FROM!

Taking inspiration from George Ella's Poem "Where I Come From" inspires writers to tell stories in an interesting format. It gave me a road to follow put I got to pick what color I wanted to paint my path. The possibilities for this poem made my mind go a mile a minute. Where I come from, Where I can go, What I can do? Ideas to spin your own personal story are countless and varied.

It almost brought tears to my eyes as I watched the video a year later because some of the people in my story are no longer with me, but will always be with my memories. That is the joy and the advantage of story telling. June 17th, 2009.
